Year 6

Welcome to Year 6 with Miss Smith and Mrs Leonard!

Year 6 is very important as we are getting ourselves ready for secondary school. We are also the oldest children in the school and we have lots of responsibilities, including being role models to the rest of the school. Some of us are also prefects, librarians, house captains, members of GLOW and school council and eco warriors, as well as being Head Boy and Girl.

Another important part of Year 6 is SATs, which will happen in May. We are working extremely hard to do as well as we can. During the year, we will work hard to improve our skills in reading, writing, maths and SPAG, but we will also be doing some very exciting topic work!

We may also get a chance to go on residential and to stage an end of year production, as well as look back on our memories at Quinton Church Primary School… It is a very exciting year group to be a part of!

Homework

Our homework is set on a Thursday and collected in the following Wednesday. The majority of our homework will be literacy and maths; however, we are sometimes set a research project that is linked with our Topic work.

Reading a variety of books is very important and we can work towards our reading award during the year as well. A copy of this will be sent home if requested, so you can keep track of what you have read during the year.

We also encourage the children to get involved with timestable rockstars as often as possible, including battles which I will set throughout the year! You login details will be sent home at the beginning of the year, but please ask if you have forgotten these.

Spellings are handed out on a Wednesday and are tested the following Wednesday.

P.E is on a Wednesday and Friday.
